‘Hurt or be hurt.’

Someone mentioned that to me in a conversation today.
Now, I’m not really a pessimist on love. True, I don’t really believe in, you know, unconditional, pure-everlasting love, the whole love-will-conquer-all Disney jazz, but I still believe in it nonetheless.
I mean, there has got to be love somewhere in this world, right?
Well, that just goes to show, never listen to advice about love from someone who just had his heart broken.
Only a fool would listen to that kind of junk.
But now that I’ve had a couple hours to ponder over it, I guess it’s not completely untrue. There is some truth in it, although the phrase might not apply to every relationship in the world.
In love, I guess it’s either one or the other for most people. You either hurt someone, or you yourself get hurt.
It’s just the way it is.
